The New York Baby Show is a family-friendly event for new and expectant parents from the Tri-State area and beyond.
My husband, baby Luc and I all attended and we had a blast! We got to explore a mix of top products and services for maternity, baby and toddler, along with an inspiring menu of speakers and demonstrations from highly regarded and beloved figures in the world of parenting and pregnancy.
Brands such as Babies R Us, Plum Organics, Beech Nut, Evenflo, Chico, Dr. Brown’s, Pottery Barn Kids, Mamas & Papas and so many more served as exhibitors for parents, expecting parents and couples planning to get pregnant to explore! If you fall into any of these categories you should definitely attend their 2015 show!
There were even some kid friendly activities! Kids enjoyed face-painting, picture taking with Snoopy, an arts & crafts area and so much more! Check out Luc enjoying some tunes with a Guitarist on the “magic music carpet”.
There were also separate but equally as fun and necessary “Mom” & “Dad” lounges! Yes, we each took special use of these lounges. I took some time to stretch out my legs from all the walking we were doing & of course feed Luc..lol. Hubby took a moment in the Dad’s lounge to change Luc.
There were also various seminars taking place but we weren’t able to attend due to a time constraint.
Some of our favorite baby items from the NY Baby Show are listed below:
My husband’s favorite item was the Arianna Nasal Aspirator aka Baby Vac.
The Baby Vac was a fave item of ours because of the fact that this aspirator uses the same suction as a breast pump to aspirate mucus from your child’s nose. Luc suffers from chronic respiratory infections anytime he catches a common cold. The thought of him being able to breathe more comfortably and us not having to fight with him (as much) to clear his nose is VERY relieving! The ONLY thing that put us off about the product was that you can hook it up to your household vacuum. The idea sounds INSANE but upon researching online the Baby Vac has received a significant amount of raving reviews!! Many parents stated the vacuum concept is not as scary as it seems and the suction is unbelievable! Just google it and check for yourself.
At the time we were told the Baby Vac was much more expensive than listed online ($22.99 USD-$29.99 USD) opted for a cheaper version from CVS instead. We purchased a Graco nasal aspirator (see below) from CVS for approxmately $20.00 (USD).
The Graco nasal aspirator held up EXTREMELY well! Aspirating Luc’s nose takes much less time to do. Luc still fights us and runs once he sees the aspirator coming, do you blame him?..lol.
However, all we have to do is press the power button on our Graco nasal aspirator and we’re good to go! No worrying about the tip cutting or hurting Luc’s little nose. We also LOVE how there is much more suction with this aspirator than our previous aspirator from “Little Noses“.
Now that we see the price for BOTH the Baby Vac and Graco NasalClear are about the same, we may consider purchasing a Baby Vac for baby #2.
Con—The Baby Vac is NOT available in US stores. Available mainly through Amazon, Ebay, and manufacturer’s website. The company is based in Europe so unless you plan on traveling across the pond don’t expect to further inspect the product in person.
Our next favorite (more so my favortie) item for the 2014 NY Baby show was the ENTIRE baby and Mommy line from Shea Moisture.
This is our TOP favorite brand and item of the 2014 NY Baby Show! Luc has EXTREMELY sensitive skin and has experienced it since birth. All of his skin products are either organic, gluten-free, vegan or all of the above. We ended up purchasing the above pictured SheaMoisture products. Luc’s skin responded best to the “Fragrance Free & Gluten Free Shampoo and Baby Wash”.
We had been using Cetaphil on Luc’s skin (even face) from birth since he suffered from mild Eczema. SheaMoisture’s Raw Shea Butter Eczema soap has been a godsend! We use it twice a day everyday and his dry skin patches have cleared up to the point of no return! This soap also smells amazing and I have used it on myself from time to time. No complaints!
I also loved the newly launched Mommy line from SheaMoisture called “Raw Shea Cupacu”.
Besides the inviting fragrance, I loved the tightening effects the firming massage lotion (purchased & pictured below) had on my skin. At the time of this event, I had been in the daunting process of losing my post baby-weight. My thighs and mid section were my BIGGEST culprits. While it did not erase my stretch marks (I’ve had them on my legs since my teenage growth spurt to 5’9) it DID help to firm and enhance elasticity.
Again, SheaMoisture’s products are free of parabens, phthalates, paraffin, propylene glycol, mineral oil, DEA, sulfates, silicones, synthetic fragrance and artificial coloring which is always a +++ for the health concious & organic Mommies like myself.
Con–Just a bit pricey but so worth it! Also, not all stores carry all lines which can be a hassle. Since we’ve figured out which of our local CVS, Target, Walmart and Walgreens stores carries the products we need we just purchase in bulk…again, pricey.
We will be sure to check out the NY Baby Show in 2015. It was a very well organized family-friendly event that encompassed exhibits and activities for each member of the family.
